Wan Tan Mee Plus 2 – Sg. Dua, nearby USM Penang

By | January 21, 2016

Back from a long hiatus due to exams, works (well, doesn’t mean the work is completely done, hahaha) and many other things. And honestly speaking, it really takes a huge discipline to keep on blogging (as once you stopped for a while due to any reason, even though you’re a person that love to type, you’ll eventually tends to slow down on updating your blog. Okay, let’s get back to foooood. This time I’m going to talk about one of my favorite food – Wan Tan Mee. And we’re going to talk about Wan Tan Mee Plus 2 at Sg. Dua, Penang. Plus 2 is actually located at Sg. Dua, just next to RHB bank. Probably you will know Baskin Robbins? It’s in the same row.

Honestly, at a glance, you won’t probably notice this shop, or even notice that they’re selling such a good Wan Tan Mee (one of the best, other than BB restaurant nearby Suntech Penang, which I’ll talk about it next time).  If you’re coming from USM (let say USM Sg. Dua entrance is on your right), keep going till you see Pelita on the left and RHB Bank on your right. Turn right into the shop lots and start to find a parking (make sure you get a valid parking with valid parking coupon – I got a summon here before. 🙁 😛 )

Wan Tan Mee Plus 2 has its distinctive flavor which I believe the secret is with the broth. I mean come on, how a wan tan mee can differ that much from other ingredient. It must be the broth! *Wearing sunglasses to show awesomeness in guessing right. 😛

The aunty is not a local but can converse and take whatever order that you have in mind. I’ve ordered 2 packs of Wan Tan Mee here (one with extra wan tan (wrapped dumpling?)) to go. Not planning to eat over there as I was rushing time to get back home.

Sorry for the bad quality of picture. Verdict? There’s 2 packs that I bought. One which they have accidentally added in the chili sauce (more to sambal sauce) and one with pure ingredients. I would say the sambal actually destroy the taste of it (not to my liking), and the one without the chili sauce is really really awesome. The broth is very special and it does reminds me of a Wan Tan Mee shop that I’ve tasted since young, which is made of duck sauce. Probably this is the secret ingredient? A sense of sesame oil as well. I can’t remember the price that I’ve paid, but it’s not so expensive. Try Wan Tan Mee Plus 2 out and let me know what do you think.
